Darryl Young has been drawing silly pictures all his life. He believes this is a result from a lifetime overexposure to cartoons, comic books and toys. In 1998 Calabash
Animation hired Darryl to draw silly pictures for them. Here he worked
as a traditional animator and designer on such commercials as Trix, Lucky
Charms, Honey Nut Cheerios, as well as many others. But his crowning achievement
was being a part of director Jackie Smessaert's animated short film Botnik.
Darryl got to draw many silly pictures as storyboard artist, character
designer, art director, layout artist, and supervising animator. In 2007 The Marketing Store hired Darryl to draw silly pictures for them. Here he worked as a toy designer for McDonald's Happy Meal. Darryl designed toys for such kid's favorites as Lego Batman, My Little Pony, Avatar, Naruto, as well as DreamWorks Animation's Monsters vs. Aliens and Madagascar 2. Currently Darryl draws silly pictures for Index Promotions. Here he works as a toy designer for children's premiums to be found in cereal boxes and restaurants throughout the world. Darryl has designed toys for such kid's favorites as Transformers 2, Secret Saturdays, Flapjack, as well as many others. Believing there are young and impressionable minded kiddies out in the world yearning for the encouragement to draw silly pictures, Darryl taught cartooning classes at Marwen. Much to the chagrin of friends and family alike, Darryl continues to draw silly pictures, and hopes to do so for a very long time to come. He lives with his beautiful, blushing bride Laura and their lovely wonder-twins Kirby and Nina on the outskirts of Chicago, Illinois. You can contact him at : info@darrylyoung.net
